Note:

  1. Students enrolled in/after AY 2026: A maximum of 9 elective credits taken outside the department can be counted toward graduation with advisor approval. A maximum of 9 credits can be taken from courses taught by the same instructor.
  2. Students enrolled in/before AY 2025: A maximum of 12 elective credits taken outside the department can be counted toward graduation with advisor approval. A maximum of 9 credits can be taken from courses taught by the same instructor.
  3. Direct-Entry Ph.D. Students: A minimum of 30 total credits is required for graduation (12 Dissertation Credits Excluded). Students must fulfill the required courses for both Master's and Ph.D. programs. Other regulations (such as elective credit limits outside the department) remain the same as those for regular Ph.D. students enrolled in the same academic year.
  4. Ph.D. students must pass (or waive) the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination within the prescribed deadline. For detailed regulations, please refer to the "NCKU Department of Physics Regulations for Ph.D. Qualifying Examination." Students who fail to complete the examination within the required time limits and number of attempts will be dismissed from the program.
  5. Graduate students (both Master's and Ph.D. students) enrolling in the "Select 2 out of 4 Required Courses" or elective courses outside the department (must be graduate-level) should ensure that the course content aligns with the research topic or direction planned by their advisor, and must obtain approval from their advisor prior to enrollment.
