Physics Department Laboratory Courses — Registration Guidelines: General Physics Laboratory and Physics Laboratory (I)–(IV)
[Physics Students] Important Notes for Registering General Physics Laboratory and Physics Laboratory (I)–(IV):
1. Course capacity is strictly controlled to ensure every student participates in hands-on experiments. Therefore, the class roster is imported directly by the university system; students cannot register for these courses online by themselves. Unnecessary dropping or withdrawing from these courses is also strongly discouraged.
2. Physics Department Students (including department transfer and university transfer students who have not yet passed General Physics Laboratory): You must take the General Physics Laboratory course offered by the Department of Physics. Taking General Physics Laboratory courses offered by other departments for credit substitution or transfer is NOT allowed.
3. For laboratory course registration, please consult the [Full-Time Teaching Assistant (TA)] first to confirm if there are still seats available in the class.
Physics Dept. General Physics Laboratory: Manager Mr. Guo-Liang Yang (Physics & Chemistry Building 2F, General Physics Lab)
Physics Laboratory (I) & (II): TA Po-Ching Wu (New Physics Building 3F, Room 36365) --> Sophomore Courses
Physics Laboratory (III) & (IV): TA Hui-Ling Kang (New Physics Building 3F, Room 36361) --> Junior Courses
[Students from Other Departments (including Double Major / Minor students and cross-institutional registration)] If manual course addition or class switching is required:
(1) University-wide Required General Physics Laboratory: Please make sure to obtain the official stamp/signature of the General Physics Lab Manager, Mr. Guo-Liang Yang (signatures from course instructors will NOT be accepted), before going to your home department office for manual add/drop.
** General Physics Laboratory Override/Add Process: (Current Semester)
A. Course overrides for General Physics Laboratory are managed centrally by the General Physics Lab; individual class instructors do NOT handle overrides.
B. Students who wish to add the course should bring their home department's Course Override Form on the _first day of class_ in the current semester to Mr. Guo-Liang Yang, General Physics Lab Manager (Physics & Chemistry Building 2F, Ext. 65264), and clearly state your year of study, department, and whether you are a graduating senior.
Note: For students applying for Monday and Tuesday classes, due to capacity limits, successful override decisions will be made directly by the General Physics Lab.
C. Mr. Yang will notify students of the override results.
D. Students take the approved override form to the course-offering department to complete registration.
(Example: If you are a Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering student with Department Code/Seq F1-012, please take the override form to the "Systems Department" office to process the override). The Physics Department can ONLY process C2-XXX codes. Please do NOT submit forms to the wrong department office to avoid missing the university deadline.
Note: Home department offices will ONLY recognize override forms stamped by the "General Physics Laboratory".
(2) Physics Laboratory (I)–(IV): Please inquire in advance with our department's full-time TA, check the department website announcements, and ensure you attend the first class. If you have any questions, please contact the dedicated full-time TA for that specific advanced lab course directly.
*** For full-time TAs and managers of Physics Dept. lab courses, please refer to Point 3 above.
*** The Physics Department Office [CAN ONLY PROCESS] courses starting with C2 and L2 (Physics Dept./Institute codes). For non-C2/L2 courses, please go to the respective department/institute/program office to process add/drops.
*** The Physics Department's Course Override Form is the "Special Circumstances Course Registration Form" (特殊因素選課單); please go to Department Website > Downloads to download it. For override forms of other departments, please inquire with their respective department offices.
