Important Registration & Credit Transfer Notes for Transfer Students: General Physics, General Physics Lab, General Chemistry, and Calculus
[Department Transfer & University Transfer Students]
(1) Required courses for Physics majors include: General Physics (I) [4 credits], General Physics (II) [4 credits], General Physics Laboratory (I) [1 credit], and General Physics Laboratory (II) [1 credit].
(2) Upon transferring into the department, if you are missing any of the above courses, you must take the course offered by the Department of Physics (do NOT enroll in General Physics or General Physics Lab offered by other departments). Furthermore, your first attempt at taking these courses cannot be through summer sessions.
(3) If a student completed any of the above courses at their original university/department prior to transferring, the course must have been a required course of 3 or more credits per semester with identical course content. It can be transferred to waive the corresponding course only after departmental review and approval. Credit transfers cannot use fewer credits to waive more credits.
(4) Single-semester General Physics can only be transferred to waive General Physics (I).
(5) General Physics (I) and (II) in our department total 4 + 4 = 8 credits. Students who have completed General Physics (I) [3 credits] and General Physics (II) [3 credits] may waive 6 credits of General Physics (I) and (II). The remaining 2 credits must be made up before graduation by taking elective courses of 2 or more credits offered by the Physics Department/Graduate Institute. Physics Department/Graduate Institute courses refer to those starting with course code C2 or L2.
